SAN PATRICIO MELAQUE
(Three villages in one)
Melaque is the name used to describe the combined villages of Melaque, San Patricio and Colonial Villa Obregón. Villa Obregón, the most easterly village is mainly residential, with San Patricio in the middle encompassing the main business district, Church and town plaza. Melaque in the West has the most beach palapa restaurants and safest swimming beach. Their combined population is only 7,569. Melaque shares Bahía de Navidad with the village of Barra de Navidad 4.5 km to the East, and is a great spot for ocean recreation. Playa Melaque is oriented almost East and West, so in winter the sun rises on one end of the beach and sets on the other. Melaque is a popular area for visitors, due in part to the large number of lodgings and restaurants here. With over 50 different places available, it has the most accommodations of any town in all of the Costalegre. For your convenience they are listed alphabetically under Places/Towns/Hotels.
