The Costa Careyes (turtle coast) stretches for 13km and harbors the main beaches of Playas Blanca, Rosa, Careyitos, Careyes and Teopa. The first three bays are taken up with luxury resort and condominium developments, while playa Teopa is a protected turtle nesting beach that is closely monitored by guards.
